Amboseli Airstrip arrivals: Scheduled flights operate daily from Nairobi's Wilson Airport (WIL) directly into Amboseli Airstrip (AMB) via Airkenya and Safarilink.
Airstrip to Ol Tukai Lodge drive time: The flight takes roughly 40 minutes. Because the lodge sits in the center of the reserve, it is a brief, 15-minute game drive from the airstrip straight to the reception desk.
Driving route from Nairobi: Vehicles travel south along the paved Nairobi-Mombasa highway (A109), turning right at Emali onto the Loitokitok road (C103), and entering the park via the Kimana or Meshanani Gates.
Total road distance and transit time: The route spans approximately 240 km and takes about 4 hours, changing to a scenic dirt track once inside the national park boundaries.
Property Name: Ol Tukai Lodge
Location: Inside Amboseli National Park, Kenya
Category: 5-Star Premium In-Park Eco-Lodge
Setting: A fever-tree oasis bordering permanent freshwater swamps in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro.
July to October – Long Dry Season (Peak Elephant Tracking & Swamp Action): This is the gold-standard time to visit the lodge. As the surrounding savannah entirely dries up, thousands of elephants and migratory herbivores migrate to the permanent Ol Tukai swamp system directly bordering the lodge deck. Wildlife viewing is constant and spectacular.
January to February – Short Dry Season (Clear Skies & Peak Kilimanjaro Views): This dry window provides warm weather and exceptionally crisp morning skies. It is the absolute best period for capturing iconic photographs of elephants walking against a clear, cloudless Mount Kilimanjaro backdrop before the midday heat sets in.
November to December – Short Rains (Vibrant Birds & Emerald Savannah): Brief afternoon rain showers clear the dust, turning the landscape lush and green. This is an incredible time for birdwatchers, as European and Asian migratory birds arrive in massive numbers around the swamp borders.
March to May – Long Rains / Low Season (Lush Seclusion & Best Rates): This brings the main monsoon rainy period. While some game tracks can become slick, the park turns into a quiet emerald paradise completely free of tourist crowds. Travelers enjoy peaceful lodge grounds and highly competitive seasonal room rates.
Everything you need to plan an unforgettable African adventure.
