Award-Winning Luxury Safari Camp with Views of Mount Kilimanjaro
Elewana Tortilis Camp Amboseli is an elegant eco-friendly safari camp set in a private conservancy bordering Amboseli National Park, renowned for its spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, exceptional wildlife encounters, and luxurious tented accommodation.
Elewana Tortilis Camp is among Kenya's most celebrated luxury tented camps, named after the flat-topped Acacia tortilis trees that shade it and prized for one of the finest views of Mount Kilimanjaro in East Africa. Award-winning eco-credentials, solar power and refined tented suites make it the benchmark stay in the Amboseli ecosystem.
The camp sits in the private Kitirua Conservancy on the edge of Amboseli National Park, about a 4 to 5-hour drive from Nairobi or a short flight from Wilson Airport to Amboseli airstrip. Amboseli is world-famous for big-tusked elephant herds photographed against Kilimanjaro, and lions, cheetahs, giraffes, buffalo and abundant birdlife share the plains. The conservancy location adds guided bush walks, night drives and sundowners beyond the park's boundaries.
Sixteen tented rooms, including family tents and a private villa, are built from environmentally responsible materials, each with a veranda framing the mountain. A pool, spa, boma dinners and private dining under the acacias round out a genuinely polished camp experience. Star-gazing evenings, birdwatching and community walks connect guests with the landscape and its people beyond the game-drive vehicle, and the spa restores tired travellers after full days out.
Ground your visit with our guide to Amboseli National Park, or arrive on the 3-day Amboseli safari from Nairobi and extend into the conservancy.
Timing shapes everything at this five-star camp. June to October and January to February bring dry weather that pulls elephant herds to permanent water and delivers the clearest Kilimanjaro mornings — the mountain typically reveals itself at dawn before cloud builds, so plan photography for first light. The green months of November to December and March to May offer lusher scenery, fewer vehicles and dramatic skies.
Because the camp holds just 16 tents across three categories — Luxury Safari Tents, Family Tents and a Private Villa — dry-season dates book out well ahead, particularly for the villa. Flying from Wilson Airport to Amboseli Airstrip saves most of a day compared with the 4 to 5-hour road journey, leaving more of your stay for the conservancy itself.
Two nights is the workable minimum; three lets you add a guided bush walk in the conservancy without rushing the park itself.
