A Comfortable Classic Safari Camp Bordering Amboseli near Kimana Gate
Sentrim Amboseli Lodge is a relaxed and welcoming safari lodge located just 3 km from the Kimana Gate of Amboseli National Park, offering easy access to some of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife viewing
Sentrim Amboseli is a relaxed four-star tented lodge whose 62 deluxe canvas units pair traditional safari style with hard floors, en-suite bathrooms and proper beds — comfort without losing the feel of sleeping under canvas. A year-round outdoor pool with sun loungers, a spa and massage parlour, and a dedicated observation walkway built for sunset and Kilimanjaro viewing give guests plenty to enjoy between drives.
The lodge stands about 3 km — an eight-minute drive — from Amboseli's Kimana Gate, putting the park's permanent swamps and their massive elephant herds within easy morning reach. Clear-morning views of Mount Kilimanjaro reward early risers, particularly in the January-to-February window. Daily scheduled flights connect Nairobi's Wilson Airport with Amboseli Airstrip in about 40 minutes, roughly 25 minutes from the lodge, while the road route via Emali or Namanga covers around 230 km in about four hours.
The tented rooms come in Deluxe Double, Twin and Triple configurations, all with private bathrooms and terraces or balconies facing the gardens and landscape beyond. Family-friendly touches include a children's pool alongside the main pool, and dining runs from full-board buffets to vegetarian and vegan options.
Sentrim Amboseli is a convenient base for Amboseli National Park and slots easily into the 8-day Kenya safari continuing north to the lakes and the Masai Mara.
Spacious room with a comfortable double bed, private bathroom, terrace or balcony, and modern amenities, ideal for couples.
Comfortable room with twin beds and ensuite bathroom, perfect for friends or family members travelling together.
Larger room with three single beds, private bathroom, and views towards the garden or surrounding landscape.

By Air: Daily scheduled flights hop from Nairobi's Wilson Airport (WIL) straight to the Amboseli Airstrip (AMB) in about 40 minutes. The lodge sits approximately 18 km (11 miles) east of the airstrip, requiring a 25-minute transit through the park terrain.
By Road: From Nairobi, the property is accessed by taking the paved Mombasa highway south and cutting through Emali, or via the Namanga border route. The drive covers roughly 230 km and takes about 4 hours. A high-clearance SUV or 4x4 is highly recommended for the final bumpy dirt tracks leading off the main road.
June to October – Long Dry Season: The peak season for viewing big game. Natural bush cover thins out drastically, forcing Amboseli's massive elephant herds, lions, and buffaloes to gather around the permanent swamps inside the gate.
January to February – Short Dry Season: Characterized by warmer weather and incredibly crisp, cloudless morning skies. This is the premium window for getting unobstructed views and clear photos of Kilimanjaro's snowy peak right from the pool deck.
November to December – Short Rains: Brief afternoon rain showers clear the dust from the air and turn the plains into a lush green landscape. An incredible time for birdwatchers as migratory species arrive at nearby waterholes.
March to May – Long Rains / Low Season: The main monsoon rainy window. While the dirt tracks around the gate become muddy and rough, the park transforms into an uncrowded green paradise, offering absolute peace and deep seasonal discounts.
