An Intimate Eco-Luxury Tented Sanctuary at the Foot of Mount Kilimanjaro
Little Amanya Camp is a boutique luxury tented safari retreat located just minutes from the Iremito Gate of Amboseli National Park, set at the foot of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro with stunning views of the plains and wildlife.
Little Amanya Camp is a boutique tented retreat of just eight luxury canvas suites, every one of them — like the public areas — oriented squarely towards Mount Kilimanjaro. Farm-to-table dining from the on-site garden and an unhurried, low-density atmosphere set it apart from Amboseli's larger lodges.
The camp sits roughly a 3-minute drive from Amboseli National Park's Iremito Gate, reached by a 45-minute flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport to Amboseli airstrip plus a 20 to 25-minute transfer (about 20 km), or a 4.5-hour, 250 km road journey via Emali. Game drives through the park bring Amboseli's great elephant herds, lion, cheetah and the marsh birdlife, while clear dry-season mornings — especially January and February — reveal Kilimanjaro's snows above the plains.
The 8 tents span Deluxe, Suite and Family configurations, with private bathrooms, verandas facing the mountain and, in the Suite Tent, a balcony bathtub for scenic soaks. A pool, hot tub, bar-lounge and firepit boma frame evenings, with full-board and à-la-carte menus plus private outdoor dining. Hot-air balloon safaris, guided bush walks and Maasai village visits can all be arranged from camp.
Little Amanya is an easy match for Amboseli National Park itineraries, with the 3-day Amboseli safari the most direct way to build it into a Kenya trip.
Larger capacity tents suitable for families or small groups, with multiple beds and en‑suite facilities, plus outdoor space to enjoy the surroundings together.
Spacious tents with comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and verandas facing Mount Kilimanjaro or garden views, offering extra comfort and relaxation after safari activities.
A more luxurious tent option with added space and, in some cases, a balcony bathtub for scenic views and premium comfort.

By Air: Flights depart daily from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (WIL) and land at Amboseli Airstrip (AMB) in roughly 45 minutes. The camp is located approximately 20 km from the airstrip, translating to a smooth 20-to-25 minute transfer road trip.
By Road: Self-drivers and custom safari tours can access the property easily via the main Nairobi-Mombasa highway, cutting south through Emali. The total overland journey covers 250 km and takes approximately 4.5 hours from Nairobi City center.
June to October – Long Dry Season: The supreme window for classic big game viewing. Surrounding bush terrain thins out dramatically, drawing massive elephant herds and predators straight toward the national park’s central marshes. Game drives are sunny and predictable.
January to February – Short Dry Season: This brief intermediate dry window offers beautiful warm beach-style weather and remarkably clear, cloudless skies in the early mornings. It is the absolute prime season for capturing crisp photographs of Kilimanjaro’s snowy peak.
November to December – Short Rains: The landscape transforms rapidly into a lush green carpet as short afternoon showers clear the sky of dust. This period is spectacular for birdwatchers as international migratory birds flock to the ecosystem.
March to May – Long Rains / Low Season: The region experiences its primary monsoon rainfall. While dirt roads can get heavy, the savannah turns completely emerald, travel crowds vanish, and guests enjoy unmatched peace alongside deep seasonal discounts.
