Nairobi to Amboseli flight time: A scheduled 40 to 45-minute domestic flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (WIL) directly to the main Amboseli National Park Airstrip.
Airstrip transfer to lodge: A 35 to 40-minute scenic road transfer through the national park connects the airstrip straight to the AA Lodge gates.
Nairobi to Amboseli driving time: Approximately 4 to 4.5 hours (around 240 km) traveling via the smooth tarmac of the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway, branching off south at the Emali junction along the Emali-Loitokitok road.
Mombasa to Amboseli driving time: Approximately 5.5 to 6 hours traveling past Tsavo West and entering through the eastern corridor via Kimana town.
Vehicle requirements for access: Highly accessible via standard 2WD tour vans on the main approach roads, though a 4x4 safari vehicle is highly recommended for game viewing inside the actual national park tracks.
June to October (Peak Dry Season): The best time for wildlife viewing near AA Lodge Amboseli. Low water levels across the region force massive concentrations of game to gather inside the park's central marshlands, creating premier safari conditions.
January to February (Short Dry Season): The best time for clear Mount Kilimanjaro views. Crisp, low-cloud mornings offer iconic postcard photography windows right across the lodge lawns before the afternoon haze rolls in.
November to December (Short Rains / Green Season): The best time for bird watching and value rates. Brief, heavy afternoon rain showers settle the dust, bringing the savannah to life with vibrant greenery and migratory bird species.
March to May (Long Rains / Low Season): The best time for budget safari discounts. While park tracks become muddy and require robust 4x4 driving, it offers the absolute lowest accommodation rates of the year and crowd-free game viewing.
Everything you need to plan an unforgettable African adventure.
