A Historic Stone Citadel and Gateway Eco-Resort within the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa offers a relaxed safari experience within a private sanctuary, combining comfortable accommodation, spa facilities, and excellent wildlife viewing. It’s the perfect base to enjoy both nature and relaxation in one setting.
Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa is unlike any other Kenyan safari property: a stone citadel built in distinctive fort style, complete with an on-site museum dedicated to the region's World War I history. It combines that heritage character with four-star resort facilities at the entrance to a private wildlife sanctuary.
The resort stands directly at the main gate of the private Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary near Mwatate, between Nairobi and Mombasa in the greater Tsavo region. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe and plains game move through the sanctuary, and an active watering hole on the resort grounds draws animals into view. Because the sanctuary is private, night game drives are permitted - a rarity in Kenya.
The 62 rooms and suites offer double or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms and views over the gardens or surrounding hills. Expansive manicured grounds, a large pool, spa, gym and conference space give the resort broader facilities than most safari lodges, and a native tree is planted for every arriving guest under its eco-pledge programme. Dining is full board as standard, spanning international and pan-African buffets, poolside barbecue dinners and packed safari picnic boxes.
The Tsavo corridor connects west to Amboseli National Park; add the 3-day Amboseli safari for Kilimanjaro views and big-tusker country.
Comfortable rooms with double or twin beds, en-suite bathroom, and views of the gardens or surrounding hills, ideal for couples or solo travellers.
Spacious rooms with a separate lounge area, upgraded furnishings, and enhanced comfort for a more relaxed stay.
Larger rooms designed for families or small groups, featuring multiple beds and additional space while maintaining comfort and convenience.
