Luxury Safari Lodge in the Heart of Masai Mara
Unwind at Mara Serena Safari Lodge, offering magnificent views of Kenya's Great Migration while providing the luxury and personalized experience of Imara Africa Safaris.
Mara Serena Safari Lodge crowns a saddle-shaped hill in the Mara Triangle, the quieter western sector of the Masai Mara National Reserve, with sweeping views over the plains and the Mara River below. Its architecture — inspired by traditional Maasai manyattas, with rounded earth-toned forms and natural stone — has made this five-star lodge one of the most recognisable properties in Kenya, and an infinity-style pool, spa and sundowner terrace all face the savannah.
Few lodges are better placed for the Great Migration: the Mara River crossings of July to October unfold within easy game-drive range, and the Triangle's controlled vehicle numbers keep sightings uncrowded year-round. Mara Serena Airstrip lies roughly 2 km away, about 45 minutes by scheduled flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport, while the road journey from Nairobi covers around 320 km in five to six hours through the Great Rift Valley.
The lodge offers around 100 rooms, all positioned for uninterrupted plains views, each with a private balcony or terrace, en-suite bathroom, mosquito nets and ceiling fans. Eight sets of interconnecting family rooms and a suite with two private balconies and a dedicated steward extend the options, and all guests enjoy the hilltop restaurant and bar.
The lodge anchors any visit to the Masai Mara National Reserve, and its airstrip makes the 3-day fly-in Maasai Mara safari an effortless pairing.
Overlooking the endless savannah from a private balcony, each Standard King Room offers a quiet retreat with uninterrupted views of the Maasai Mara. Designed for comfort and relaxation, the rooms feature a king-size bed with a mosquito net, a writing desk, and a marble bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Mara Serena Safari Lodge is a year-round destination, with each season offering a unique safari experience in the Maasai Mara.
July to October – Great Migration Season
This is the most popular time to visit, when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross into the Maasai Mara from the Serengeti. Guests can witness dramatic river crossings along the Mara River, combined with excellent predator sightings. This period offers peak wildlife viewing and clear, dry conditions.
December to March – Dry Season
A fantastic time for game viewing, as animals gather around water sources and vegetation is less dense. The weather is generally warm and sunny, making it ideal for photography and consistent wildlife sightings.
April to June – Green Season
Although this is the rainy season, the landscape transforms into lush, vibrant greenery. It is a quieter period with fewer visitors, offering a more exclusive and peaceful safari experience. Birdlife is abundant, and rates are often more favorable.
