A Historic 5-Star Luxury Resort and Convention Center at the Base of Mount Elgon
Experience tranquility and adventure at Mbale Resort Hotel. Immerse yourself in superb luxury, spectacular Mt. Elgon views, and close access to Uganda's sublime natural wonders, including Sipi Falls.
Mbale Resort Hotel is eastern Uganda's flagship five-star property, combining a full convention centre with resort-grade leisure facilities beneath the cliffs of Wanale Hill. For travellers heading to Mount Elgon or Sipi Falls, it is the most comfortable base the region offers.
The hotel sits on Bungokho Road in Mbale town, roughly 245 kilometres east of Kampala, with unobstructed panoramic views of Wanale Hill's waterfall-streaked cliffs. Guided excursions climb Mount Elgon's forested slopes, trek the triple cascades of Sipi Falls and visit the ancient Nyero rock paintings, while cycling and town tours explore the local coffee culture of the Bugisu highlands.
The 94 rooms are split between the classic Eden wing and the modern Victoria wing, from standards to upgraded deluxe categories and suites. A large outdoor pool, gym, sauna and spa form a comprehensive wellness centre, and the ballrooms and boardrooms make this the premier event venue in eastern Uganda. Dining spans daily continental buffet breakfasts, traditional Ugandan culinary buffets and al fresco poolside service with mixology, while fireside and garden live music events animate the evenings.
Eastern Uganda contrasts well with the savannah of Murchison Falls; the 3-day Uganda safari covers that classic northern circuit.

From Tororo / Border Posts: Positioned just 45 km (about a 50-minute smooth drive) north of Tororo town and the Malaba Kenya-Uganda border post, making it an excellent stopover for cross-border travelers.
By Air: Charter or domestic scheduled flights can be arranged to the regional Soroti Airstrip (located roughly 100 km north) or across the border to Eldoret International Airport in Kenya, followed by a scenic road transfer.
Year-Round Business Operations: The resort operates at peak international efficiency every day of the year. Peak conference and corporate calendars generally thrive between January to April and September to November.
Dry Trekking Months (June to August & December to February): The absolute best time if you are using the resort as a base for hiking Mount Elgon or exploring the slippery walking trails of Sipi Falls, as paths are dry and clear.
Green Months (March to May & October to November): The surrounding Bugisu terraced hills and the cliffs of Wanale turn into a jaw-dropping, lush emerald green, causing the regional waterfalls to roar at their maximum, dramatic volume.
