Unforgettable Wildlife Memories in the Central Serengeti
Derived from the Swahili word for "remembrance," this intimate 10-room eco-luxury tented camp sits in the high-action Seronera sector, offering front-row access to the Great Migration.
KumbuKumbu, named after the Swahili word for remembrance, is an intimate 10-room eco-luxury tented camp in the Serengeti's action-packed Seronera sector. Engineered for a light environmental footprint, it places guests directly inside big-cat country while keeping the atmosphere personal, with raised viewing decks and candlelit private dining.
The camp lies in the Central Serengeti, about 40 minutes by road from Seronera airstrip, itself an hour's flight from Arusha; overland, the drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area takes 7 to 8 hours. The Seronera river valley supports outstanding year-round game viewing, famous for resident lions, leopards and cheetahs, and the Great Migration herds sweep past the area on their annual circuit, with zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and elephant regularly seen near camp.
The 10 tents divide into Standard Tented Rooms with valley views and larger Luxury Tented Rooms, all under canvas with en-suite facilities and private decks. Bush breakfasts, picnic lunches, star-gazing evenings and Serengeti gastronomy experiences give the small camp an engaging rhythm. Hot air balloon safaris launch nearby at dawn, and the camp’s elevated dining area frames sweeping panoramic views across the surrounding savannah at breakfast and dinner.

Located in the Central Serengeti (Seronera region), KumbuKumbu Luxury Tented Camp is ideally positioned for year-round wildlife viewing and offers easy access to some of the Serengeti's most productive game-viewing areas. The camp sits in a wildlife-rich area where guests regularly see zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, elephants, and other animals near the camp itself.
This is the dry season and the most popular time to visit. Wildlife concentrates around permanent water sources, vegetation is thinner, and game viewing is exceptional. The Central Serengeti is particularly famous for resident predators, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, making this period ideal for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
During these months, large herds of wildebeest and zebras move through the Serengeti ecosystem toward the Maasai Mara. KumbuKumbu's location offers excellent access to migration routes and game-drive opportunities. The camp itself notes that the Great Migration passes near the property each year.
This is one of the most exciting times to visit the Serengeti. The southern plains host the wildebeest calving season, attracting large numbers of predators. Guests combining Central Serengeti with Ndutu enjoy outstanding wildlife action, dramatic predator-prey interactions, and beautiful green landscapes.
The short rains transform the Serengeti into a lush green wilderness. Birdlife is excellent, photography conditions are superb, and visitor numbers are lower. Wildlife viewing remains rewarding thanks to the abundance of resident animals in the Seronera region.
These are the wettest months in the Serengeti. While occasional rain can affect road conditions, travelers benefit from:
