Luxury Mountain Retreat at the Foot of Mount Kenya in Nanyuki
Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club is a five-star luxury heritage hotel located in Nanyuki at the foothills of Mount Kenya. The property sits at an altitude of approximately 2,135 metres and features around 120 rooms, suites, and cottages. Guests enjoy a nine-hole golf course, horse riding, fine dining, and direct access to the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy.
Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club is one of Kenya's most storied addresses, a former private members' club turned five-star heritage resort sitting directly on the equator at the foot of Mount Kenya. Manicured gardens, colonial-era architecture, fireplaces and sweeping mountain views give it a graceful character no new-build lodge can imitate.
The property lies in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, at an altitude of approximately 2,135 metres, around 200 km and a 3 to 4-hour drive from Nairobi, or 45 to 60 minutes by air to Nanyuki airstrip. Guests have direct access to the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy and its animal rescue centre, while nature trails, birdwatching and horse riding explore the highland setting; Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Mount Kenya National Park are natural excursions from this base.
Around 120 rooms, suites and cottages, including the famed William Holden Cottages, carry classic colonial styling with fireplaces and private verandas facing the mountain. A nine-hole golf course, spa, tennis, fine dining and a kids club fill days between wildlife outings. Cycling adventures, fishing, star-gazing and guided garden walks showcase the estate’s grounds, while conference and event spaces host weddings and retreats with the mountain as a backdrop.
Balance the highlands with the savannah of the Masai Mara National Reserve, covered along with Amboseli on the 8-day Kenya safari.
