Ngutuni Lodge is located within the 10,000-acre Ngutuni Wildlife Sanctuary, bordering Tsavo East National Park on three sides near Voi. The lodge overlooks a busy waterhole that attracts wildlife throughout the day and night, making it one of the best lodges in Tsavo for viewing animals directly from your room or the main deck.
This is the ideal time to visit Ngutuni Lodge. During the dry season, wildlife concentrates around the waterhole and nearby water sources, making game viewing exceptional. Elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and numerous antelope species are frequently seen. Vegetation is thinner, improving visibility during game drives.
The short dry season offers another fantastic safari experience. Wildlife remains concentrated, temperatures are pleasant, and visitor numbers are lower than during peak holiday periods. This is a great time for photography and quieter safari experiences.
Following the short rains, the sanctuary becomes greener and more scenic. Birdwatching is excellent, with over 500 bird species recorded in the area. Wildlife viewing remains good, and the landscape is particularly beautiful for photographers.
These are generally the wettest months. The sanctuary is lush and vibrant, accommodation rates are often lower, and visitor numbers are fewer. Although some game-viewing conditions can be more challenging, the scenery is spectacular.
