June to October – Best Overall Safari Season
This is the premier time to visit Tarangire Safari Lodge. During the dry season, wildlife migrates from surrounding areas and congregates along the Tarangire River, creating one of the highest wildlife concentrations in East Africa. Elephant herds, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and numerous antelope species are commonly seen. Vegetation is thinner, making game viewing easier.
July to November – Elephant Season
Tarangire is renowned for its enormous elephant populations. During these months, hundreds of elephants gather around the river and swamps, providing some of Africa's finest elephant-viewing experiences.
November to March – Green Season
The park becomes lush and vibrant after the short rains. Birdwatching is exceptional, with migratory species arriving from Europe and Asia. Visitor numbers are lower, the scenery is stunning, and photography opportunities are excellent.
April to May – Low Season
These are the wettest months in Tarangire. While wildlife disperses and some roads can become challenging, visitors enjoy:
