8 Days Kenya Safari – Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara

Upon your arrival in Nairobi, our friendly Imara Africa Safaris team will warmly welcome you at the airport. After a short safari briefing, you will begin your scenic drive to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations.

Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. After checking in at your lodge or camp, you will relax briefly before heading out for your first evening game drive.

This first game drive gives you a beautiful introduction to Kenya’s wildlife, with chances to spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and if lucky, big cats such as lions or cheetahs.

Today is dedicated to exploring the beauty and wildlife of Amboseli National Park. You will start with an early morning game drive, one of the best times to enjoy wildlife activity and possibly see Mount Kilimanjaro clearly at sunrise.

Amboseli is one of the best places in Africa to see elephants up close. During the day, your professional safari guide will help you spot wildlife while sharing interesting information about the park’s ecosystem, animals, birds, and landscapes.

Since your safari is fully private, you have the flexibility to plan the day with your guide. You may choose morning and afternoon game drives with a relaxed lunch break at the lodge, or a longer game-viewing experience depending on your preference.

After breakfast, you will depart Amboseli and drive to Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake located in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. The drive takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic, road conditions, and stops along the way.

Upon arrival, you will check in at your hotel or lodge and enjoy some time to relax. Later, you will enjoy a peaceful boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you may see hippos, fish eagles, pelicans, and other birdlife.

You will also enjoy a guided nature walk at Crescent Island, compliments of Imara Africa Safaris. This is a unique experience where you can walk among wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and wildebeests in a calm and scenic environment.

After breakfast, you will drive from Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park, a journey of approximately 1 to 2 hours.

Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s most scenic national parks, known for its lake views, birdlife, rhinos, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, and possible sightings of lions and leopards. The park is also famously associated with flamingos, although their numbers may vary depending on water levels and season.

Upon arrival, you will enjoy a game drive as you explore the park’s lake shores, woodland, and open grassland areas. Lake Nakuru is also one of the best places in Kenya to see both black and white rhinos.

Along the way, you will have a stop at a curio shop, where you can browse souvenirs, handmade crafts, and local gifts. After arrival in the Masai Mara, you will check in at your camp or lodge and relax.

Later, you will visit a traditional Maasai village, where a Maasai moran will accompany you for a nature walk to the village. This cultural visit gives you a chance to learn about the Maasai people, their traditions, lifestyle, and connection to the land.

If you prefer not to take the nature walk, you can be dropped off by the vehicle directly at the village.

Today is dedicated to a full day of game drives in the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most celebrated safari destinations.

The Masai Mara is known for its wide open plains, big cats, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, antelopes, and rich wildlife viewing throughout the year. It is also one of the best places in Kenya to spot the Big Five, depending on wildlife movement and luck.

Your guide will take you through different areas of the reserve while helping you track animals and understand their behavior. If you are traveling during the Great Migration season, you may also witness large herds of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains.

Since your safari is private, you can choose between a full-day game drive with picnic lunch or morning and afternoon game drives with time to relax at your accommodation.

You will start with an early morning game drive, when wildlife is most active and the lighting is perfect for photography. You will then enjoy a special bush breakfast in the reserve, creating a memorable safari moment surrounded by nature.

After breakfast, continue with a half-day game drive before returning to your accommodation for some relaxation in the afternoon. Later in the day, you will head out again for an evening game drive, giving you another chance to see predators, elephants, giraffes, and other wildlife as the day cools down.

For travelers looking for an extra special experience, an optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an additional cost. This gives you a breathtaking aerial view of the Masai Mara at sunrise, followed by a bush breakfast.
