July to October is the premier safari season and the most popular time to visit. During this dry period, wildlife congregates around water sources, making game viewing exceptional. It is also the time of the famous Great Wildebeest Migration, when vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move through the Mara ecosystem. River crossings are typically at their peak between August and September.
January to March is another excellent time to visit. The weather is generally warm and dry, visitor numbers are lower than during migration season, and predator sightings are often outstanding. This period is ideal for travelers seeking excellent wildlife viewing with fewer crowds.
November to December brings the short rains, transforming the conservancy into a lush green landscape. Birdlife is abundant, photography conditions are excellent, and the camp is generally less crowded while still offering rewarding wildlife encounters.
During the long rains from April to May, the Mara is at its greenest. While some roads may be muddy, guests benefit from lower rates, fewer visitors, beautiful scenery, and opportunities to see newborn animals.
