4 days · 4 of 4 expanded

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, or after pickup from your Nairobi hotel or residence, you will be welcomed by an Imara Africa Safaris representative and introduced to your safari guide. After a short briefing, you will begin the journey toward the Masai Mara, one of Kenya’s most celebrated safari destinations.
The drive offers a scenic introduction to Kenya’s countryside, with changing landscapes, local towns, open plains, and views along the way. You will arrive in the Masai Mara area in time for lunch, then check in and settle into camp before your first safari activity.
In the late afternoon, you will head out for an evening game drive across the savannah plains. This first game drive gives you a chance to start exploring the reserve and look for wildlife as the day begins to cool. You may see elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, antelopes, and, depending on movement and timing, predators becoming active toward dusk.
After the game drive, return to camp for dinner and overnight in the Masai Mara area.

After breakfast, you will spend the day exploring the Masai Mara on private game drives with a picnic lunch in the bush. Being a fully private safari, the day can be paced according to your interests, wildlife movement, photography needs, and your guide’s recommendations.
The Masai Mara is known for its open grasslands, big cats, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, antelopes, and rich birdlife. Your guide will help track wildlife while sharing useful insights about the reserve’s ecosystem, animal behavior, local landscapes, and seasonal patterns. You will have a chance to search for members of the Big Five, although sightings are always subject to nature and cannot be guaranteed.
A picnic lunch in the wild allows you to remain inside the reserve for more exploration without returning to camp during the middle of the day. This gives you more time to enjoy different parts of the Mara and appreciate the beauty of the savannah.
Later in the day, you will return to camp for relaxation, dinner, and overnight in the Masai Mara area.

After breakfast, you will visit a Maasai village for an enriching cultural experience. This visit offers a chance to learn about Maasai traditions, homestead life, songs, dances, dress, community structure, and the close relationship between the Maasai people and the landscapes surrounding the Mara.
After the cultural visit, you will continue your journey toward Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive takes you through changing scenery as you leave the Mara region and head toward the Great Rift Valley lake system. You will arrive in time for lunch, depending on road conditions and departure timing.
In the afternoon, enjoy game drives inside Lake Nakuru National Park. The park is well known for its rhinos, and it also supports buffalo, giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, baboons, monkeys, and various antelope species. Along the lakeshore, you may see flamingos and other birdlife, depending on water levels, feeding patterns, and seasonal conditions.
After the game drive, continue to your accommodation in the Lake Nakuru area for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will depart Lake Nakuru with an en-route game drive as you make your way out of the park. This gives you a final opportunity to enjoy the park’s scenery and look for wildlife before continuing toward Lake Naivasha.
At Lake Naivasha, you will enjoy a boat ride on the freshwater lake. The lake is known for hippos, fish eagles, water birds, and peaceful views of the surrounding landscape. Boat rides are subject to weather and lake conditions, but they are often a relaxing highlight after several days of road travel and game drives.
You will then continue to Crescent Island for a walking safari. This experience allows you to explore on foot in a beautiful natural setting where you may see giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other plains wildlife at a gentle pace. It is a different kind of safari experience and a good way to connect with the landscape before returning to Nairobi.
After lunch, you will drive back to Nairobi for drop-off at your hotel, residence, or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. This marks the end of your 4-day Kenya safari with Imara Africa Safaris.
