Budget camping safaris in East Africa start from around US$150–250 per person per day, mid-range lodge safaris run US$300–450 per day, and luxury safaris range US$500–900+ per day. Park fees, season and group size all affect the final price.
A typical 7-day East Africa safari costs roughly US$1,400–1,800 per person on a budget, US$2,100–3,200 mid-range, and US$3,500–6,500+ for luxury. Use the calculator above to get a tailored range for your destination, season and group size.
Gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda requires a permit (US$800 in Uganda, US$1,500 in Rwanda) on top of accommodation and transport, which raises the per-day cost compared with a classic game-drive safari.
Imara Africa Safaris packages typically include accommodation, park and conservancy fees, a private 4x4 vehicle with a professional guide, meals as specified, and transfers. International flights, visas, tips and personal extras are usually excluded.
The long-rains low season (roughly April–June) offers the best rates and quietest parks, with lush green landscapes. Peak dry season (July–October) is most expensive due to prime wildlife viewing and the Great Migration.
