Mount Kilimanjaro

Overview

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa and one of the world’s most famous mountains. It is located in northeastern Tanzania and stands at an impressive height of 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano with three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Its summit, Uhuru Peak, on the Kibo cone, attracts climbers from around the globe. The mountain is known for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from rainforest to alpine desert. Climbing Kilimanjaro is a challenging endeavor, but it doesn’t require technical mountaineering skills, making it accessible to many adventurous hikers. The mountain holds significant cultural and ecological importance and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
