Overview

Rwanda is a landlocked country located in East Africa. It is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills” due to its stunning mountainous landscape. The capital and largest city is Kigali. Rwanda gained independence from Belgium in 1962 and has made significant progress in social and economic development since the devastating genocide in 1994.

The population of Rwanda is around 12 million people, predominantly composed of the Banyarwanda ethnic group. The official languages are Kinyarwanda, French, and English. Rwanda has a high population density and is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa.

The country has a diverse ecosystem with a range of wildlife, including gorillas, chimpanzees, and various species of birds. Tourism, agriculture, and mining are key sectors of the Rwandan economy. Rwanda is also known for its commitment to environmental sustainability and is considered a leader in conservation efforts.
