The best safaris don't happen by accident. They're engineered, carefully, quietly, and with enough local knowledge to avoid the mistakes that turn dream trips into expensive regrets.

Every Imara safari passes through five stages. The whole process usually takes 3 to 7 days, but we never rush; a well-paced plan saves you time, money and stress on the ground.
We listen before we design
A safari designer learns your pace, comfort level, wildlife priorities, food preferences, mobility needs, fitness level, dates and budget. We don't suggest a single lodge until we understand what matters most to you.
Built around the season, not the brochure
Routes are mapped from real-time migration patterns, road conditions, park-fee calendars, charter flight schedules and quieter conservancy access windows. Driving distances are balanced with rest days so no transfer leaves you exhausted.
The right bed, not just any available bed
Lodges and camps are matched to your comfort style, budget and the experience each property delivers in that specific season. A camp that's spectacular in July may be deserted in March; we know the difference.
Every transfer, permit, and backup plan
Internal flights, ground transfers, park permits, gorilla passes, visa guidance, travel insurance advice, all confirmed and documented. Your trip coordinator stays assigned from first email to final airport drop-off.
We stay close while you travel
Your guide and our Nairobi operations desk coordinate check-ins, route adjustments, weather pivots and small surprises, from sunset sundowners to a detour for a leopard sighting your guide heard about on the radio.
Four documents, one card, zero surprises.
Daily plan, all confirmations, transfers, fees, vehicle details and what to expect each morning.
A page on each lodge or camp: rooms, food, activities and what makes it special this exact season.
Visa guidance, packing list, weather charts, vaccination notes and currency tips, all in one place.
Your guide's WhatsApp, the Nairobi ops desk and emergency numbers, all printed on one travel-safe card.
Every traveller is different. We calibrate four axes during your brief to find the exact fit; not too much, not too little.
Your planner adjusts every axis around what you tell us. The result is an itinerary that feels like it was written for you, because it was.
We see these on nearly every itinerary that lands in our inbox. Each one is easy to fix, if someone tells you before you book.
Common mistake
Cramming too many parks into too few days.
How we fix it
We design slower itineraries with built-in rest days; less driving, more wildlife.
Common mistake
Choosing a luxury camp in the wrong season when wildlife has moved on.
How we fix it
We map your dates against real migration patterns and only quote lodges that work that month.
Common mistake
Booking internal flights that add cost but save only thirty minutes.
How we fix it
We stress-test every flight against the drive; if the savings are marginal, we tell you.
Common mistake
Skipping conservancy stays for crowded public parks.
How we fix it
We build at least one conservancy night into most itineraries; quieter, better game viewing, and your fees fund rangers.
Common mistake
Ignoring altitude acclimatisation before a gorilla trek.
How we fix it
We sequence Rwanda or Uganda days so you're rested and acclimatised before the trek morning.
Common mistake
Not budgeting for park-fee increases that happen mid-year.
How we fix it
We quote you against the calendar your travel dates actually fall in, not last year's rates.
