Murchison falls National Park

Overview

Murchison Falls National Park is a renowned wildlife conservation area in Uganda. Located in the northern part of the country, it spans an area of about 3,893 square kilometers (1,503 square miles). The park is named after the powerful Murchison Falls, where the Nile River dramatically squeezes through a narrow gorge, creating a magnificent waterfall.

The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and hippos, among others. It also boasts over 450 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatching enthusiasts. The park offers various activities such as game drives, boat safaris, nature walks, and chimpanzee tracking in the nearby Budongo Forest.
