February is one of the very best safari months, especially for predators. The wildebeest calving season peaks on the southern Serengeti's Ndutu plains, where roughly 8,000 calves a day are born and lions, cheetahs and hyenas hunt in the open. Weather is warm and dry (about 14–29°C), game viewing across Kenya and Tanzania is excellent, and photography on the short-grass plains is exceptional.
