Safari Details

Samburu National Reserve is a premium safari destination in Kenya for lovers of authentic game safaris and wildlife, not to mention that this is also a bird-watching paradise. Morning and evening game drives give us a chance to witness large herds of herbivore mammals and their carnivore predators interacting in their natural environment.
The Samburu National Reserve was one of the two areas in which conservationists George Adamson and Joy Adamson raised Elsa made famous in the best-selling book and award-winning movie Born Free. The Samburu National Reserve is also the home of Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting Oryx calves.
Lake Nakuru National Park is dominated by a gentle undulating terrain with open bush and woodlands, typical of the dry rift valley vegetation. Twenty-seven percent of the park is composed of the Lake Nakuru waters. The Park was declared a Rhino Sanctuary in 1983. The Rhino stocking program which ensued received white rhinos from South Africa. Currently, the sanctuary has approximately 45 black and 31 white rhinoceros. The Park lies in the volcanic–strewn Great Rift Valley, one of the chains of 8 lakes.

followed by swimming, games, and relaxation. Late afternoon, we will set off this time, for an
evening game drive until sunset to witness the serenity of this reserve. Samburu National
Reserve exudes a peaceful aura that attracts animals and greatly because of the Ewaso Ng'iro
river (meaning brown water) that runs through it and surrounded by acacia, riverine forest, thorn
trees and grassland vegetation. The Ewaso Ng'iro flows from the Kenyan highlands and empties
into the famous Lorian Swamp. The natural serenity that is evident here is due to its distance
from industry and the inaccessibility of the reserve for many years. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

An afternoon game drive will also take in the lake this park is named for. Massive flocks of flamingos feed and nest here, they arrive in such numbers that the water becomes obscured by the shades of pink and magenta of the animals displaying across the water.
