Day to day

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arusha - Serengeti National Park (350 km, 5 - 6 hours)

Start your day in Arusha early and be ready to journey through the Tanzanian countryside and marvel at the stunning landscape as local life unfolds around you. Lunch will be served en route and you can expect to arrive at the beautiful Serengeti National Park by late afternoon.

Once in the park, you will embark upon your first Tanzanian safari, which comes in the form of a two-hour, early evening game drive. This is the perfect chance to witness how the plains of the Serengeti transform as the sun fall below the horizon. Dinner will be served at your accommodation that’s located within the boundaries of the national park.

Included in the first night of the Tanzania safari is:

Day 2 - Full day in Serengeti National Park

After breakfast your will venture out into this most famous of African safari destinations. You full day within Serengeti National Park will see you accompanied by expert guides who can help you track and identify the animals you’re lucky to spot.

No two days on the plains are the same, and the animals that you may see are plentiful. Along with the Big Five of African safari, you can look out for:

  • Gazelle
  • Impala
  • Hyena
  • Baboon
  • Waterbuck
  • Wildebeest

And a whole range of other animals that are equally stunning and awe-inspiring.

Lunch will be served picnic style so that you can maximise your time surrounded by the natural, volcanic landscape. Once your appetite for the beasts of the grasslands has been sated you can return to your safari accommodation for dinner.

Included in the second night of your Tanzanian safari is:

Day 3 - Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area (180 km, 3 to 4 hrs)

Early morning is a time of transition on the Serengeti. Nocturnal animals end their day whilst the animals of the day time start their daily quest for food and water. On your third day of Tanzanian safari we will take you on a dawn game drive so you can begin to understand this daily ritual yourself.

After breakfast, you will continue your safari to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is a special area, where life for the animals and the Masai people is managed with equal consideration. Before you enter the crater, lunch will be served.

The Ngorongoro crater is the largest, unfilled volcanic caldera in the world and plays host to myriad animals who seek the relative safety of the crater. The big five;

  • Lion
  • Leopard
  • Elephant
  • Buffalo
  • Rhino

All call this place home, along with a dazzling array of other African wildlife. Over 25,000 animals live in the massive crater and your African safari offers you chance to catch a sight of some of them.

The third night of your safari in Tanzania includes:

  • Overnight in Ngorongoro Conservation Area
  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Day 4 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Amboseli National Park (250 km, 5 - 6 hours)

Following breakfast, you will have a moment to bid farewell to your time in Tanzania as your journey continues across into Kenya. You will cross the border at Namanga and arrive at Amboseli National Park in time for lunch at your safari accommodation.

After eating and time to settle in, you will be taken on a game drive to begin your understanding of the wilds of Kenya. In Amboseli, you can’t fail to notice the stunning backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro: Africa’s highest peak will be your companion on this leg of the journey.

Your afternoon with the natural wonders of Kenyan safari will be rounded off by dinner being served at your lodge or camp accommodation within the national park. Included on fourth night of your African safari is:

  • Overnight in Amboseli National Park
  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Day 5 - Full Day in Amboseli National Park

Your first full day in Kenya begins with an early morning game drive. The early hour should allow you opportunity to glimpse the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, before the clouds roll in for the day.

Amboseli teems with life, along with the big five of African safari that inhabit this landscape, you should have the opportunity to see:

  • Wildebeest
  • Waterbuck
  • Impala
  • Giraffe
  • Zebra

As you spend the day with your expert African safari guide. Lunch is served as a picnic to ensure you get as much time in this majestic landscape as possible.

Another evening will be spent at your tented camp, or lodge where dinner will be served. The fifth day of your African safari includes:

  • Overnight in Amboseli National Park
  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
  • Drinking water is provided. All other drinks are extra

Day 6 - Amboseli National Park - Lake Nakuru National Park (386 km, 6 to 7 hours)

Departing from Amboseli after breakfast, your journey will progress through the Great African Rift Valley and take you to Lake Nakuru. This is the home of large flocks of stunning flamingos who turn the lake gorgeous shades of pink as they feed and display the day away.

Lunch will be served on your journey to the park, and after arriving at your accommodation, you will embark on a game drive through the surrounding lands of Lake Nakuru. This area is a haven for rare and endangered animals, with chances to see the Rothschild giraffe along with black and white rhinos. You’ll spend the evening at your safari accommodation where your dinner will be served.

This day of your Kenyan safari includes:

  • Overnight in Lake Nakuru National Park
  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge

Day 7 - Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara National Reserve (300 km, 5 to 6 hours)

Leaving Lake Nakuru includes an early morning game drive, perfect for avid ornithologists with over 400 species of bird nesting or feeding at the lake. You’ll move through the stunning Kenyan landscape, with homesteads and volcanic formations equally ready to take your breath away.

Lunch is served in a local village to give you chance to experience traditional Kenyan cuisine, and you’ll arrive at the Masai Mara by late afternoon. Jump straight into the action as the animals stir from their midday naps. Watch as the animals spend their last energy of the day seeking food and water.

You will stay overnight inside the national reserve where your dinner will be served at your camp. Included in this day of your African safari is:

Day 8 - Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve

The rolling landscape of the Masai Mara plays host to millions of wild animals, including the big five of African safari. Your early start should offer ample opportunity to spot the animals that you’ve travelled so far to see.

Along with the stars of the grasslands of Africa, you can also find in Masai Mara:

  • Hippo
  • Wildebeest
  • Giraffe
  • Hyena
  • Jackal

And many more that you can discover. To ensure you get all the time you want inside the park, lunch will be served picnic style next to the Mara River, keeping you close to the nature you’re here to visit.  After your day packed with wildlife and wonder, you’ll return to your safari accommodation to indulge in your dinner and a good night’s rest.

The eighth day of your African safari includes:

  • Overnight in Masai Mara National Reserve
  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
  • Drinking water is provided. All other drinks are extra

Day 9 - Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve

Another day inside the amazing Masai Mara can offer you chance to explore deeper and get a fuller understanding of the lifecycles at play on the rolling hills dotted with acacia trees. Breakfast will be served before setting out into the park to track the animals with your expert Kenyan safari guide.

Living on these lands for generations uncountable, the Masai people are world famous for their symbiotic relationship with the park and their respect and control of the animals within. On this day, you are offered the optional activity of visiting a Masai village; a chance to get close up to the culture and explore their way of life.

The trip includes a traditional greeting in song and dance, plus time to look around the village and visit a local home. There is an extra fee for this unique experience of $20 per person.

Following your day exploring the animals and human experience of the Masai Mara, you will return to your accommodation for dinner to be served.

Day 10 - Masai Mara National Reserve - Nairobi (265 km, 5 to 6 hours)

Your African safari swansong plays out over the plains of the Masai Mara, as you partake in one final morning game drive before breakfast and your return to reality in Nairobi.

Passing through the rugged and beautiful countryside of Kenya as you make your way back to the city, you are given the option of a hotel, residence, or airport drop off upon your return.
