Mara Bushtops is located within the private Bushtops Conservancy on the edge of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, offering convenient access by air and road.
By Air: The fastest and most popular option is a scheduled flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport to Siana Springs Airstrip, which takes approximately 45–60 minutes. Upon arrival, guests are met by the camp team for a short game-drive transfer to the camp. Flights are also available from destinations such as Mombasa, Diani, Samburu, and Lewa, depending on the airline schedule.
By Road: Guests can drive from Nairobi through the scenic Great Rift Valley and Narok town to the Maasai Mara. The journey takes approximately 5–6 hours, with the final section passing through Sekenani and the conservancy roads leading to the camp. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for comfort, especially during the rainy season.
Private Transfers & Safari Packages: For a seamless travel experience, private road transfers, fly-in safaris, helicopter charters, and tailor-made safari packages can be arranged through your tour operator. Camp-arranged airstrip transfers are included for guests arriving by scheduled flights.
Nearest Airstrips: Siana Springs Airstrip and Keekorok Airstrip serve the camp, providing easy connections from Nairobi and other safari destinations across Kenya.
Mara Bushtops is one of the Maasai Mara's most exclusive luxury safari camps, located within a private conservancy bordering the reserve. Its location allows guests to enjoy not only traditional game drives but also night drives, walking safaris, and more private wildlife experiences away from the crowds.
July to October is widely considered the best time to visit. During these dry months, wildlife congregates around water sources, vegetation is thinner, and game viewing is exceptional. This period also coincides with the Great Wildebeest Migration, when millions of wildebeest and zebras move through the Mara ecosystem, with dramatic river crossings typically occurring between July and October.
For travelers seeking luxury with fewer crowds, January to March is another excellent period. The weather is generally warm and dry, predator sightings are outstanding, and the landscape remains beautiful. This season is particularly popular with photographers and guests looking for a more exclusive safari experience.
During November and December, the short rains transform the conservancy into a lush green paradise. Birdlife is abundant, rates can be more attractive, and wildlife viewing remains rewarding despite occasional showers.
The long rainy season (April–May) is the quietest period. While some roads may become muddy, guests benefit from lower rates, fewer vehicles, dramatic scenery, and excellent photographic opportunities.
Recommended Months by Experience:
Great Migration & Big Five: July – October
Luxury Safari with Fewer Crowds: January – March
Birdwatching & Green Landscapes: November – December
Best Value & Lowest Rates: April – May
One of the unique highlights of Mara Bushtops is its private conservancy, natural salt lick visible from the camp, night game drives, walking safaris, luxury tented suites with private hot tubs, and an award-winning spa.
